pregnancy

The days and nights are starting to become less of a blur as Hazelnut and I establish somewhat of a routine. Since I am slightly less sleep deprived (though I still could use more sleep), my thoughts are starting to drift to my weight. I gained 42 pounds of baby weight during my pregnancy. I [...]

Pregnancy Update

One more month to go and I will be able to hold my little girl. I am at the point where I am ready for this pregnancy to be over.  Though I have a relatively “easy” pregnancy up until the last couple of weeks, I am at the stage where I am uncomfortable no matter [...]

Pregnancy has been easy for me physically, even with the increase in my hip pain, but it has been hard for me mentally.  Pregnancy really slows you down because your body is so busy growing these tiny hands and feet.  You’ll think I would relish this time to take it easy and sit around with [...]

I have a relatively healthy relationship with food and my weight.  I am neither underweight nor overweight prior to getting pregnancy.  But when for some reason as I viewed my partially nude body when I was getting ready for bed last night, I started worrying about my weight gain during pregnancy. I talk about exercise [...]

A reader recently sent me an email asking how my torn hip labrum is doing with my pregnancy.  Prior to getting pregnancy, the pain level on my hip is probably in the range of 2-3 (on a scale of 1-10 with 10 the most painful).  Hence, my doctor does not think surgery would help with my [...]

My husband and I spent the last week and a half celebrating the end of my first trimester with some much needed R&R in Hawaii. And who goes to Hawaii without attending a Luau? Hawaiian hula dancers come in all shapes and sizes. Some are obviously overweight (coconuts and a grass skirt do not hide [...]

Sorry for being MIA lately.  I’ve been really distracted by my newest health development.  I’ve been paying tribute to the porcelain bowl in my bathrooms and mostly sleeping my life away.  Some mornings my dark eye bags jolts me awake faster than any cup of coffee.  And dragging my ass around is getting old.  Exercise?  [...]

The thing about having a goal like “staying fit to have a healthy baby” is so wishy-washy. The best time to lose any excess weight is before getting pregnant. So lately I have taken “staying fit to have a healthy baby” as my workout mantra. Problem is – the mantra is actually less motivating than having a defined goal of losing 2 inches around my waist by spring.

Pregnancy Planning

Like I said in my previous post about a brighter future, my husband and I are doing some pregnancy planning. Ok, I am the one officially thinking about pregnancy planning. My husband figures that we both have jobs, we both are ready to have children, so what is there to plan?

All you mothers out there, isn’t tons of things to think about? Just off the top of my head, I have at least a handful of questions.

I believe that my physical independence as I age is base on the things I do now to make sure my body stay strong when I am older. I will never forget the frustration I felt when it took me 20 minutes to walk 2 blocks from my house to the church and back a couple of weeks after my car accident.
