home exercise

Are you going to be like my husband who lies on the sofa making wisecrack remarks while I am doing “girlie” pushups? Or are you going to actually do the exercise, get sweaty, and slightly breathless? Exercise videos only work (as in losing weight or getting stronger) if you actually use it consistently over time and adding variation to your routine.

Whenever I think about walking to lose weight, I think of Leslie Sansone. She is the queen of walking exercise videos. Some people find her chattiness annoying, but I find it amusing. I often recommend her 1 mile or 2 mile exercise dvds to sedentary beginners.

During my last post about why exercise dvds are a cheap way to experiment with exercise, I mentioned that there are many types of workout dvds out there that can match up with whatever fitness fetish you might have. This post is a discussion of the advantage of an exercise program with a pre-designed eating plan and workout sessions.

spiral-staircaseWelcome to Small Steps to Health blog where we do not take orders from a cookie!

Even though I have been too busy to workout with my dvds, I have been using my Stairmaster. When you live in a two story house, you have a built-in Stairmaster at home. There is no need to travel to some distance gym to get a cardio workout when you have a fully functional staircase at home. Yep, I fully intend to wear out my newly installed carpet on the staircase before any other part of the house. My husband thought I was joking when I announced my intentions a couple of days ago. This post discusses some exercises we can do at home with our staircase. And yes, we can work out most of our body with just a little bit of imagination.

Botanical Garden Entrance

Recently I got a couple of comments from readers asking about how to start exercising in their 60s. One feel that most gyms are not made for sedentary people in their age group. And the other reader, though active, feels that she needs to add some strength training and flexibility to her walking. They both understand that they need to exercise, but the “how to exercise” in their 60s remains a mystery to them.

Nuru exercise anywhere cards This post is a review of the Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere Cards. At the end of the post, you will find instructions on how to win a Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere of your own from Small Steps to Health. Since I do not get that many commenting on my blog, your chances of winning is probably pretty high. :D

Targeted Audience

The exercise cards states that their targeted audience is anyone who wants to exercise without having to hit a local gym.
