This site provides sane health and fitness information for anyone wanting to live a healthy life now in order to stay physically independent as you age.  Never take orders from a cookie!

After a car accident a few years ago, I realized  a healthy body is were striving for.  Without vibrant health, my quality of life is limited.  There is just something joyful and pleasurable about being able to walk and move through life without having to struggle with your body.  Even though there I still days when I deal with my torn hip labrum and bad back, there are enough good days for me to realized how truly blessed I am to be alive and enjoying most of my favorite activities prior to my accident.

From a car accident, I found out that I do not know how take care of myself when I am hurt.  I did not know how to ask the proper questions (or ask any questions in some cases) when talking to doctors.  And I did not know how to do rehabilitation exercises at home.  Basically I was counting on the doctors to give me a pill and make me better.  I’ve come to the conclusion that my health is my priority.  If I want to live pain free, I need to put in the time and effort to manage it.  There is no pixie dust that will make it go away while I am watching TV.

I believe the four pillars of a healthy lifestyle are:

Exercise regularly

Eat as healthy as realistically possible

Control your stress symptoms

Maintain the important relationships in your life

I hope to inspire others to take an active interest in maintaining their health and fitness level as they age.  Unless you are a child, nobody is going to be able to make you eat healthy and exercise unless you CHOOSE to.

Most of my posts are from the viewpoint of a 32 year old woman.  Sometimes I write about male issues because I love the men in my life, but most of the time I really do not go out of my way to find that information.  I am more interested in learning about what is going to happen to my body as I age.

With my full time job and various others hobbies (reading, cooking, exercising, bowling, knitting, cross stitching, sewing, and jewelry making), I do not blog daily.  If you don’t hear from me in a while, do not worry, I am probably busy enjoying my life.  But know that I paid for a year of hosting upfront, so I try to update my site frequently.  You can subscribe and get an email notification when there is a new post.  Feel free to contact me.  And thank you for visiting.

5/5/11  With the recent birth of my first baby, Hazelnut, I find that I cannot blog as regularly as I used to. However, once she starts sleeping through the night (and I finally get some much needed sleep), I hope to write more regularly.

While I try to avoid advertisements for products I disapprove of, I cannot entirely control the advertising on this site. I will do my best to make sure it is not offensive. I do not necessarily endorse any companies or products advertised on my site.

I have advertising on the site to help pay for hosting and other miscellaneous cost associated with a self hosted blog.  And on a good month, there is a little extra left over to purchase a coffee or two.

Reviews

My reviews are always my honest opinion.  Sometimes I review products that I own or are free samples from marketing companies.  I do not leave out negative comments about the products in my reviews.
