A Reflection on 2009 Blogging Goals

Welcome to Small Steps to Health where we do not take orders from a cookie!

It is almost the end of 2009.  Where did the year go? Did you accomplish your list of 2009 goals?

Reflecting on 2009 Blogging Goals

I was hoping to at least accumulate 250 published posts on my site.  I am short by 25 posts.  But if you count all the freelance writing I did around the web, I attained my target.

With the farewell post from Back in Skinny Jeans earlier this year, I am also slowly trying to stop writing about weight loss.  At some point, weight should be a none issue in a woman’s life.  I am proud of the fact that I write about the many facets of health that we deal with from making food choices to to our health insurance.

The Impacts of Caffeine on Our Health – I would be lying if I say that I cut out coffee completely.  But my weekly cup is my only treat now that I have given up ice cream!  And chocolate does not count as a treat.  It is part of my “essential food” list.

I notice this year I did not rant about the AHA endorsements or marketing tricks of food companies.  I sure blasted them enough in 2008.

2010 Blogging Goals

Goal 1:  I would like to at least have a total of 400 posts on this site.  This means I have to post a little more frequently.  2010 will be my 3rd year blogging and for a website of that age, you would think I would be a more prolific writer by now.  Unfortunately I rather read than write most evenings after a day in the office.

Goal 2:  I would like to have at least 6,000 visitors a month.  I am a little under 4,000 visitors right now.  Sure, there are ways I can promote my site via social networking, but that just requires too much maintenance.  Right now, even when I am away from my website for three weeks, my traffic does not drop.  I think the key to reaching this goal would be accomplishing Goal 1.

Goal 3:  I would like more comments.  What blogger does not like comments?  Sometimes I worry that my understated personality might be overshadowed by some of my flamboyant peers blogging in the health and wellness niche.  But then again, it might all be related to my sporadic posting frequency.

That said, I wish you all a safe and happy new year.

Until next time and thanks for stopping by.

Commenting!

:) hehe. I like your goals; it’s always really nice to work on keeping our blogs the best they can be. And thanks for the 2009 year-in-review, I like seeing old posts on favourite blogs.

@Sagan – got the idea from other bloggers on the web. Besides it will be new material for my more recent subscribers. Thanks for the comment.
