Welcome to Small Steps to Health where we do not take orders from a cookie!
I am happy Christmas is over. I used up every excuse in the book to eat red velvet cupcakes and lounge around playing video games between November and December. This morning I woke up actually excited by the idea of doing a real workout this evening.
Maybe my excitement is from the aching muscles on my shoulder and abs from playing the Wii Fit Plus with my sisters all weekend. There is just something about aching muscles that make you realize how wonderful it feels to use them. Or maybe it is from my tighter pants. Whatever the reason, I am just happy to get my workout mojo back.
Living healthy is a marathon
I am pleased to know that I can give myself time to slack off. And once I get it out of my system, I can go back to fiddling with whole wheat flour concoctions in my kitchen and picking up my dumbbells. Sometimes you just need a break. But when my body tells me that my break is over, I listen and (is it gladly in this case?) go back to sweating and cursing at my TV while I follow the moves on an exercise DVD.
Living healthy and aging
I turn 31 next month. It is not as scary as turning 30, but where did my twenties go? All of a sudden I feel the pressure of the ticking biological clock. If there is no expiration on my eggs, I would prefer to keep them on the shelf just a tad longer. I would love to have children, but it is suppose to be part of my “someday” plan. I didn’t get the memo that said “someday” is today.
It amuses me when my younger sister complains about how people mistakenly think she is the elder sister when she shows them pictures of the two of us. The fact that people routinely think I am 6-7 years younger than I actually am is saying a lot about how well I am taking care of myself. Genetics have nothing to do with it. It is all from living healthy and exercising. I don’t expect to exercise and eat healthy all the time, but I do expect to get it right most of the time. And in the end, living healthy most of the time is good enough for me.
Like everyone else making same New Year Resolution to eat healthier and exercise more, that is also my one of my goals for the upcoming year. No matter how much you exercise now and how well you eat, there is always room for improvement. But at the same, knowing when to take a break is equally important so you do not feel burn out from living healthy. Remember it is not able how fast you get to the finish line, but what you learned while heading there.
Until next time and thanks for stopping by.

Hear hear! There always IS room for improvement. That’s what makes health so awesome: we are constantly challenged and progressing and able to see our hard work really paying off.
.-= Sagan´s last blog ..Day 29 of the 200 Reps Challenge =-.
Sagan – I should be doing more health challenges like what you are doing. But I find that any day I look forward to working out is enough of a challenge for me.
