I Broke the Hourglass with Bulking Thighs!

I am on the last phase of ChaLean Extreme.  Am I leaner?   Not really.  But I am certainly much stronger.  I look firmer overall.  I have one and a half months left to “get in shape for my wedding.”  I would give up $10,000 from my salary to lose 2 inches off my waist so my figure would look more hourglass-like and nipped at the waist.  But I know that I do not have the body type for an hourglass.  Maybe I should diet?

The funniest thing is that I really do not know how to diet and drop weight quickly.  I blog about eating healthy and exercising, both of which I already do.  I can probably eat less, but I hate being hungry.  I guess I can stop drinking water, but then I would get too thirsty.  I do not believe in fad diets, but sometimes I cannot help but be a little envious of the friend that can drop 10 pounds a month when I have been trying to lose 10 pounds for the last year.

Shouldn’t every woman be entitled to go a little crazy about their weight sometimes? Ok, once every month is still reasonable. But when you are the bride, it feels like every flaw is magnified 100 times.  I sometimes do not know if the pressure is self-induced or whether my friends and family are really judging my future happiness based upon the size of my thighs.

Oh yeah, did I tell you that my thighs increased an inch during phase 2 of ChaLean?  It is probably the same inch that I lost from my chest.  As if I really need that kind of body reconfiguration!

Am I afraid of bulking?  The logical part of me knows that I do not have enough testosterone to look like my governor, Arnie.  But with a body type that tends to get thicker around the waist and thigh area, I cannot help but worry that I will end up looking more like a triangle than an hourglass during my wedding.  My only consolation is that I have an A-line wedding gown and that style of dress can hide my thicker thighs.  Too bad it does nothing for my shrinking chest.  :D

Until next time and thanks for stopping by Small Steps to Health.

It gets stressful around wedding time!

The extra inch on your thigh is probably solid muscle. That’s what happened to me while I was taking boot camp. No one else is going to notice if your thigh is an inch bigger than it was before- and the way I look at it, I’d prefer to have a toned leg than a flabbyish one! Hehe.

I’d never heard of ChaLean before. It’s good stuff?

You will lose gorgeous on your wedding day, regardless of your waist size! You have obviously made a lot of really healthy progress!

I’m with Sagan, better to be toned than flabby! Keep up the good work!

For a variety of reasons (structural & chemical) some women can really pack on the leg mass after starting a new training program.

Even as you lose fat off of other areas, the legs can muscle up.

It’s one of the most challenging aspects of program design that I face with my female clients. And seeing how my business is all about referrals, the last thing I want is an angry bride mad at me about her legs getting “too big”

@Sagan – ChaLean is tough. The entire program is based upon lifting heavier weights to reach fatigue with 1 set. Phase 1 is 12 reps, phase 2 is 8 reps, and phase 3 is 12 reps. I am surprise by how much weight I can lift, but when you are going slow and only lift one set, you need heavy weights to reach fatigue. I probably should write about my experience afterwards. Thanks you for the comment.

@Diane – Thank you for your encouragement.

@DR – I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that most women store fat on their lower bodies. I know where our bodies is most metabolically active, that is the first place where we gain or lose weight. I wonder if that theory applies to muscle gain as well. Thanks for the comment DR.

ChaLean looks interesting. It’s new to me!

Weddings can be so stressful, but you will survive…I know, I’ve been there! Just be sure to relax and enjoy it despite all the craziness. It should truly be your day :)
