“Good fortune is not cause by chance, but by change.” — that saying from my fortune cookie two weeks ago sealed my fate at my current position. Looks like I am the politic pawn that got transferred to another position so that my department could show on paper that they are cutting expenses. If you are a new reader, you would not have known that I just got transferred in my current position last summer.

This post is a discussion of my heart rate while doing sedentary computer tasks at work. I am better off sleeping.

After spending the last two hours at my desk, reading yet another boring technical memorandum, I finally blinked and decided to checked my heart rate on my new Mio Motiva Petite heart rate monitor.

I was shocked to find the display showing 62 bmps (beats-per minute)! This number really does not mean much until you see that it is only 32% of my max heart rate. 32%! That is only a little higher than my resting heart rate when I wake up each morning. And since my eyes are a little dried, that tells me that I barely even blinked the last 2 hours.

Are these horses eating low carb? Welcome to Small Steps to Health where we do not take orders from a cookie!

This post is based upon an engaging discussion I had with my co-worker and bowling partner, Steve, about weight gain with a desk job, eating low carb, and smaller portions. I concluded this post with the seed planting idea to inspire others to live a healthier lifestyle.
