Welcome to Small Steps to Health where we do not take orders from a cookie!

Health care is starting to become the dividing line between the “haves” and the “have nots” in this country. Most bankruptcies, before this housing crisis, are filed because of the astronomical cost of a medical bill.

This post is a discussion of how to obtain low cost health care options when we cannot afford health insurance or are uninsurable.

Our office secretary called me a “Barbie” at lunch today. My first reaction was “what?!!” Since I have a transparent face, my confusion was obvious.

Am I suppose to feel honored or insulted?

Apparently the group of women in my new department call any women within their healthy BMI a “Barbie.”

For the first time in my career, the women outnumbered the men in my office. Early on my career, I have often been in meetings where I am the only woman. Nothing wrong with that. Except that during long meetings, the men do not understand why I need to pee as often as I do. I notice some of the men in my office only use the bathroom twice a day (you guess it, I sit by the bathroom). I seriously think these people are dehydrated!

But there is a dark side to being in the land of the women.

I finally figured out why certain posts keep getting comment spam vs. other posts on my blog. Whenever a reader insert one of my posts url on a forum, I notice that I would get massive amounts of comment spams for that post.

Five posts on my blog generate 90% of my comment spam.

I am so exited about the upcoming months. I am in the process of planning my wedding for September.

And like most brides-to-be, I want be in great shape for that day. I am not too interested in dropping my vanity pounds as I am in shrinking my dress size. Muscle mass is more compact than fat. So a person with more muscle would look slimmer than a person of the same weight with more fat.

I cannot believe that today would be my last day in this office.  I have already gotten over my disappointment for being voted off the island.  But what astonished me was that 26 people showed to my farewell luncheon at the restaurant.  And I got over $130 worth of gifts.  In addition, I had individuals taking me out to lunch for the last couple of days.  All this and I have barely been in this office for 8 months!
