Welcome to Small Steps to Health where we do not take orders from a cookie!
During this last year of blogging, I have switched my RSS feed from full feed to excerpt, then back again multiple times. Each time I made a decision about my feed, I really did not think about my subscribers. Heck, I did not even know that I have more than a handful of subscribers.
I figured most of the subscriber count are probably from myself subscribing to my own feed (just to see what my feed would look like on different readers
). Have I mentioned before that it is easy to see how bloggers can become narcissists from googling themselves or their blogs and subscribing to their own feed? In real life I do not stare at a mirror all day. Really I do not even sneak a glance every time I pass something reflective.
But I got a comment from a reader who she thinks I am punishing my readers by truncating my feed. Wow – I have not even thought of it that way before. I did not know that I am pulling out the black leather and whip on my readers. I really did not think I have much of a readership. My only thought was to prevent a splogger from scraping my posts. I hate seeing my personal stories on another blog because that is my life that they are trying to pass off as their own.
With some trepidation, I decided that I am going to publish my posts with full RSS feed and monitor its misuse per Jonathan Bailey’s advice. Am I afraid? Oh yes. How can you not be afraid when you embank on a different path than the course you originally set for yourself? But more than anything else, I am afraid this might mean that I will see more pieces of my life on another blog.
Until next time and thanks for stopping by Small Steps to Health.
