Nuru exercise anywhere cards This post is a review of the Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere Cards. At the end of the post, you will find instructions on how to win a Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere of your own from Small Steps to Health. Since I do not get that many commenting on my blog, your chances of winning is probably pretty high. :D

Targeted Audience

The exercise cards states that their targeted audience is anyone who wants to exercise without having to hit a local gym.

In my opinion, a traveler might find this deck of exercise cards more useful than an exercise newbie.  I will explain why in the sample routine section of this post.  I would probably throw in my exercise tube or exercise band in my suitcase along with these cards.

What is in the Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere Cards

There are a total of 30 cards in the deck. The first three cards gives you some ideas on how to use the exercise cards. The last four cards are some ideas for cardio and how to incorporate them into your routine. The exercises included in the exercise cards include:

Chest exercises:
Pushups
Inclines and declines pushups
Variations on pushups (Pike pushups, staggered pushups, tricep pushups)

Upper back exercises:
Reverse fly
Towel rows

Back extensions
Bird Dog
Planks

Glutes and quads exercises (lower body):
Squats
Lunges
Calf raises

Shoulder exercises:
Shoulder raises
Shoulder rotations

Biceps and triceps exercises:
Towel dumbbell
Table chin ups
Seated tricep dip
Lying tricep extension

Abs exercises:
Crunches/reverse crunch
Bicycle crunch/oblique crunch

Discussion of What I Do Not Like about Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere Cards

I am not too sure whether an exercise newbie might find enough direction from the exercise cards alone to create a routine that might be easy, yet challenging enough (do those words sound like an oxymoron?) for them to see results.

There is a good explanation of each exercise, but no good explanation of how to fit it all together.

The exercise cards recommend changing your routine, but it does not show you how.  This is understandable since you cannot fit all that you need to know about fitness into 30 2″x3″ cards.

Another thing I do not like is how they split the upper body exercises in their sample routine.  I usually like to work the front and back of my body at the same time.  If I am going to work my chest, I like to work my back on the same day.  If you follow their sample routine, you do not work the opposing muscle group until 4 days later!

Nuruplant Sample Routine Asithi’s Routine
Monday Chest, Shoulders, Triceps Chest, back, biceps, triceps
Tuesday Cardio – Jogging Cardio
Wednesday Lower body, Abs Lower body, Abs
Thursday Cardio – Squat thrusts Cardio
Friday Back, biceps Chest, back, biceps, triceps
Saturday Cardio – Jumping rope Cardio
Sunday Rest

My upper body is much weaker than my lower body, so my routine with these exercise cards is a little more focus on building up that area.

Discussion of What I Like about Nuruplanet Exercise Anywhere Cards

I like how compact the exercise cards are.  I can just throw these cards and an exercise tube or exercise band in my suitcase when I travel. Or you can use a towel for some of the upper body work, but I prefer the tubes because it would give me some extra resistance when I do the squats or lunges.

I like the illustration of the muscle group that you are trying to work with the exercises.  I used exercise cards in the past, but they usually do not have this illustration and as an exercise newbie you need to know which muscle you are suppose to feel working.

PS. One their website, one of their selling points is how indestructible these cards are.  I had to test that statement so my deck now have a card with tape all over it.  Do not try that at home.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t know exercise “cards” were out there. When I travel, the extent of my exercise routine is walking during sight-seeing.
I am approaching 60 and sooooo need to begin a routine time of exercising, esp. muscle toning and stretching. I joined a ladies’ gym a couple of years ago, but just having to leave home and drive to the place was a “turn-off.” I need to be motivated to work-out at home. I am active but I know I still need to work on specific areas. HELP!

Pick me! Pick me! I love to walk because I can (and I’m almost 60 also!). Gyms are not for older, totally unfit, kind of overweight people like me. And how do you find the right exercises, anyway?

@Katherine Landreneau and @Jan from BetterSpines – Thank you for your comments. I started writing a reply to your question about how to get started in an exercise routine for older adults, but it just got a little too long. I will put a new post on this specific question sometimes this week as a followup.

I do a lot of walking when I sight-see. I do not worry about working out when I am on vacation.

Shoot, wish I lived in the States! These cards look like they’d be SO useful for traveling. Good objective review.

@Sagan – Sorry, shipping to your part of the world is going to eat up the diminutive profits from this blog. But check your email. I think I might be able to help.
