@Tom Parker - Free Fitness Tips - I am not blaming the government for thee weight issues in this country. I am just blaming the government for creating programs for the schools and not properly funding or managing them.

The first thing that always get cut is the education system in this country. Because they know that parents will pass whatever bond measure (hello new tax) to get things back to an acceptable level at the schools.

You are right, parents are not off the hook, but let's try to make it easier for them. It takes a whole village to raise a child and parents need all the support they can get from the government. Don't just spend money on physical education and proper nutrition for a selected few, make it available for all the kids. Thanks for the comment Tom.

@Sagan - The landscape of the workplace is going to completely transform itself if we keep marching towards obesity at our current pace. When we retrofit restrooms at recreational areas, we are now considering 350-400 pounds person in the worst case scenarios when we talk about grab bars and stall sizing. Thanks for the comment Sagan.

Great post. It's scary how even in workplaces where being in shape is one of the most important aspects, there's lots of people who have health issues.

We really do need to fix up our schools and, as Tom notes, parents have to make sure they're setting up a good example too.

Some interesting points Asithi. I partially agree but I think that you can't fully blame the Government for this. I think a lot of parents have at least a basic understanding of healthy eating. If they have obese children they will know that they are eating a lot of rubbish. Therefore, it the parents have to be accountable too.
