Tom - I have a tendency to go with them for the social interaction. When all your friends at work are going out to lunch, it is hard to stay in the office by yourself. Good thing, I was able to convince my friends that we should only go out to lunch on Fridays --- the boss is not in, save money, and less chance of weight gain.

That is the same reason I have problem saying no to donuts and cakes. That is what happens when you work in an office with a lot of moms, always baking goodies for their kids’ classrooms. Every week someone brings something in. It is not their fault, but mine for not being able to just hold my coffee mug around the break table and watch everyone else munch on the goodies.

I have read quite a few articles on this topic. I find good preparation is essential when you hang around with people who are not as health concious as yourself. For example, at work a lot of the people go out at lunch time and buy their food and do not always make the healthiest choices. By preparing my lunch and bringing it to work with me it is a lot easier to resist going to the shops with them for lunch because I already have my food with me.

Tom Parkers last blog post..<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/FreeFitnessTips/~3/295333937/food-groups-that-slow-metabolism.html" rel="nofollow">5 Food Groups that can slow down your Metabolism…@Wellness Junction</a>

GT: Just like pregnancy when the husband gains weight with the wife as well. It's not in the air or the water. Just that close promixty leads to the same behavior pattern. I wonder if that is why couples that been together for a long time start to look alike.......

I think this is true. Last November I had weight loss surgery and I eat much less. I've lost over 50 pounds but my husband who had nothing done at all, has lost nearly 25 pounds. He just eats less because I do.
