When Your Spouse is Too Fat
April 18th, 2008 by asithi · No Comments
This article on msnbc makes me a little angry. The man is writing in for advice because his wife is getting too fat for him and he thinks it is all her fault. But here is the kicker, he was not particularly physically attracted to her in the first place, but it seemed to bother him even more now that she is heavier after having his kids.
Recently my husband and I celebrated our 13 year anniversary (we have only been married for 5 months). During this time period, I have put on 29 pounds and he has put on 45 pounds. I have to admit that 10-15 pounds were probably our adult weight. But we are still much heavier than before. And I never once doubt my husband’s physical attraction to me.
Which makes me wonder if this man is unhappy with his wife’s physical appearance because he regretted his decision of marriage with her. After all, people rarely get more attracted as they aged. People can age gracefully (with effort), but we still loose that glow and bright eyed beauty that comes effortlessly with youth.
When it comes to healthy living, we can only change our spouse by setting an example. Finally, after one year of seeing me exercise every evening in our living room, my husband started exercising this week. I am really excited. You cannot believe my joy and how much compliments I am lavishing on him. And I think my positive reaction is re-enforcing his resolve to get healthier with me.
Until next time and thanks for stopping by.
